What is an ICEGATE?


ICEGATE stands for "(Indian Customs Electronic Gateway) It is an e-commerce portal of the Indian Customs, which facilitates the electronic exchange of trade-related documents and information between the trading partners and the Customs authorities. ICEGATE plays a crucial role in streamlining and expediting the customs clearance process for importers, exporters, customs brokers, and other stakeholders involved in international trade. With ICEGATE, users can submit and receive various documents electronically, such as shipping bills, bills of entry, invoices, and other trade-related data.


When the ICEGATE is applicable?


The  ICEGATE is applicable in various scenarios related to customs clearance and import/export processes in India. Some common situations where ICEGATE is applicable include:


Customs Declarations: Importers and exporters can use ICEGATE for electronic filing of customs declarations and related documents.


Bill of Entry (BoE) Filing: The filing of the Bill of Entry, a key customs document that contains details of imported goods, is done electronically through ICEGATE.


Shipping Bills: For exporters, ICEGATE allows the electronic filing of shipping bills containing details of the goods being exported.


e-SANCHIT: ICEGATE is used for uploading supporting documents electronically through the e-SANCHIT feature, making the customs clearance process more efficient.


Customs Duty Payments: Customs duty payments can be made online through ICEGATE, providing a convenient and secure method for payment.


EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Communication: ICEGATE facilitates the electronic exchange of data between customs authorities and the trading community, promoting a paperless and efficient customs clearance process.



How to Register on ICEGATE?


Here are the steps to register for ICEGATE


  1. Visit the Icegate website

  2. Click the Registration tab

  3. Select the type of registration

  4. Fill out the required details

  5. Submit the application

  6. Wait for approval

  7. Receive the user ID and password

The application processing time is 3–4 working days. Once the application is approved, the user ID and password will be sent to the registered email ID.


To complete the registration process for ICEGATE, applicants must submit the following documents:


  1. AD Code letter (with bank letterhead, sign, and seal)

  2. Cancelled Cheque

  3. GST Registration

  4. Company PAN Card

  5. Board Resolution and Authorization Letter (document)

  6. Certificate of Incorporation

  7. Import Export Code

  8. Aadhar Card Copy

  9. PAN Copy


All documents should be scanned clean and have a digital signature (class 3) on every

page.
